i have made progress extending the pattern onto the base, and around the neck.

also, i have applied faceted black onyx to finish the edges, both around the base and on the top lip. the base is finished with one row of onyx. the top lip is finished with 4 rows of onyx: 1 row on the outside, one on the inside, and 2 rows on top.
