smalti, vitreous, porcelain, framing hardware (spring clips, z brackets)

when i finished my december rhythm, i thought i had made my last mosaic for the year. after spending the day framing all 12 in black floater frames, i looked at my bag of framing hardware "extras"... all those clips and brackets and such that come with the metal frames... that i had been collecting the last couple years because i hated to just throw them away.

so, i started playing around with the spring clips, and the z brackets, and one thing just led to another. before i knew it, i was throwing together a mosaic... just for the fun of it!

having gotten the middle part in, i was ready to start with the mexican smalti on the sides yesterday morning. then, i got the idea to incorporate some practice with value and shading.

i am not sure which is more amazing: that i made a mosaic in 3 days, or that i actually like a mosaic i made in 3 days.

at any rate, this will be my last mosaic of 2008. cheers!
