the relationship between the pieces of gold is quite immediately experienced due to the grid andamento that separates them. and yet, it is the grid andamento that unites the 21 golden planes of varying size and color, which float at three different levels.

what separates, unites. it is the visible and invisible - the pieces and the in-between - that unite to form the whole, existing in the same moment on different planes.

likewise, the town square - the piazza - is ideally an expression of the relationship of the visible and invisible that defines a community of people.
